I’m NOT a lumberjack, and I’m OK?

A recent study by CareerCast (reported on here in the Wall Street Journal) has ranked the best and worst jobs in the United States.  The fine profession of Statistician had a podium finish, placed at number three below the related jobs of Mathematician and Actuary.

It’s both surprising and awesome that jobs involving statistics and mathematics were considered so highly.

The findings were based on data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the US Census Bureau, as well as studies from trade associations.  The “best” jobs were ranked highly based on their working conditions, income and growth potential.

And the “worst” job according to the study?  Lumberjack.  But would being a lumberjack really be so bad? …

The top 3 jobs according to the CareerCast study were:

  • Mathematician
  • Actuary
  • Statistician

While the the bottom 3 jobs were:

  • Lumberjack
  • Dairy Farmer
  • Taxi Driver
